Early 1920's Silk Asian Motif Novelty Print Portrait Dress .

This dress is made of silk crepe and features a portrait neckline, a slightly dropped waist and a decorative silk floral corsage treatment at the hip. It has a side closure of snaps and hooks and eyes.

The gathered skirt is attached to the straight bodice at the dropped waist, separated by a row of self piping.

Decorative hip treatment is made of chocolate brown silk velvet trim that is further adorned by a silk orchid. The orchid needs a bit of reshaping but retains its vibrant color.

The Asian motif Novelty Print silk is a most unusual find for this era. It is a deep chocolate brown on a latte ground.

The lower skirt is trimmed with bands of rich brown silk velvet ribbon.



Condition


 This dress is in strong, condition with no notable flaws or weakening of the fabrics. It could be gently worn with care. There is evidence that there had originally been a third row of silk ribbon on the lower skirt. It was neatly removed and you must look very closely to know that it was ever present. It is in Very Good Condition.
